Published: 8. 10. 2018

On September 15 and 16, 2018, Regional Public Health Authority od Moravian-Silesian Region („RPHA“) employees presented their activities at the traditional event NATO Days at Leoš Janáček Airport in Ostrava, Mošnov. On Saturday morning, the weather improved, and for this reason, we have seen for both days a great deal of participation for citizens who are very interested in the issue of public health protection. More than 400 people visited the RPHA tent.

Visitors have traditionally been provided with a noise meter, as well as information on RPHA activities on the computer, various health educational materials and informative brochures relating to the promotion of public health. The offer also included the printed RPHA newsletter for 2018. The most attention was attracted by posters prepared for up-to-date topics - healthy nutrition, smoking and dangerous ticks. For those who were interested, the body fat content was measured and the BMI calculated. Frequent visitors were children who, in cooperation with their parents, filled in a crossword puzzle and played the game „pexeso“ (pick a pair game). They received small promotional items and candies for reward. The present RPHA staff responded to a number of questions concerning, in particular, the harmfulness of smoking and noise.

During both days, RPHA experts carried out state health surveillance on compliance with hygiene requirements for the production and sale of fast food stalls. This was an assortment of preparation of langos, potato pancakes, grilled sausages, hamburger, trdelniks and other specialties and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

The inspections were focused on compliance with the requirements of European legislation on food hygiene in the arera of personal and operational hygiene, food labeling and consumption. The temperature conditions for stored food and served meals have been verified. For alcohol has been requested to provide a despatch list and also the trademarks were controlled. In total 60 stalls were inspected. Operators were well prepared for the event, so the basic requirements for stall sales were provided. The check revealed only minor defects that were immediately removed by the operators. One fine was imposed for non-observance of the temperature chain of yoghurt for the preparation of dressings, fine had been paid on site.

It can be said that the hygienic conditions in fast food stalls at NATO days event are still high.
